OLD HOUSE PROBLEMS: Solar and battery backup are finally up and running
The Enphase 10T battery backup with a Panasonic solar array is a powerful combination that can provide homeowners with a number of benefits.
Here are just a few of the reasons I chose to generate solar energy on my rooftop:
- Reduced energy bills: By utilizing solar energy generated during the day, I can use less electricity from the grid during peak hours. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bill.
- Increased home value: A home with solar panels is more likely to sell for a higher price than a home without this feature. This is because buyers are increasingly looking for homes that are energy-efficient and can produce their own electricity.
- Environmental benefits: Solar panels and battery backup systems help to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, which can help to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Here are a few reasons why I decided to add a battery backup:
- Increased energy independence: The Enphase 10T battery backup can provides backup power during power outages. This gives me peace of mind knowing that I’ll still have power to run essential appliances, such as lights, refrigerator, and furnace, even if the grid goes down.
- Increased home value: A home with a battery backup system is more likely to sell for a higher price than a home without this feature. This is because buyers are increasingly looking for homes that have backup power.
I went with a local installer after hearing too many stories about problems with national installers who have to connection to the local community, the city inspectors, or the utility companies.
The company I chose is called: Northwest Renewables and found them through EnergySage.com. You can use EnergySage.com to find local installers and even local lenders. If you go through EnergySage.com and use the link I’ve provided HERE.
The process to decide how many panels and how large of a battery backup were primarily based on cost and performance. While the Enphase hardware, Panasonic panels are excellent, they are not cheap…but, none of this stuff currently is inexpensive. Someday hopefully.
The hardware that makes up my system is listed below as of late 2024.
