Missing my Prius (sometimes)
When I moved from Arizona to Washington state I decided to get a truck. The process to decide on exactly which truck would work best took months of research, talking with friends who have various trucks, and to my cousin who is a test driver for one of the larger manufactures of vehicles.
I ended up getting the 2018 Ford F150 Lariat with just about everything you can imagine. The engine stops at lights/stops and it’ll even parallel park itself! The trailer/towing management is incredible and it rides really well.
What I don’t like is the mileage, but for a truck it does well. I’m just used to 48-52mpg and now I get 17-18mpg and going from a 12 gallon tank to 38 gallons is quite the adjustment.
Here are some comparisons:
Beyond the mileage I’ve noticed fit and finish differences between them. The Toyota was a much better built car in fit and finish. They all use plastic, but the Ford just isn’t as well done as the Toyota even though the truck was more than double the cost.
The F150 does really well in snow, but so did the Prius.
I do love the space in the super cab as it gives the dogs a really nice area and a flat floor. The seats fold up tightly against the back and they can both do whatever they want back there.
I’ll continue to compare the two, but my next vehicle will hopefully be all electric once they get the range to around 400 miles on a charge.
