Finally made a decision – G5
For years I have wanted a DSLR camera, but didn’t want to haul around the equipment necessary to take those great pictures I see others taking. However; once the 4/3 size DSLRs came out I knew that there would be one made that would capture my interest. Then the mirror-less designs came down in price so it even became more of a draw to look through the options and decide on one. The Panasonic Lumix series had always looked like a great value to me and after reading numerous positive / not as positive reviews I just had to wait until the price came down to a point where it was just a little more than my usual Pentax WG-X series camera. While I absolutely love the Pentax W/WG series of sport cameras (I’ve had three) I wanted more flexibility, better zoom, better quality when I wasn’t worried about it dropping during a run/hike/ski/ride/etc. and just traveling through the wilderness or urban environment. Now with a few batteries, a couple of memory cards, a decent zoom lens and the body itself I barely notice its weight and thoroughly enjoy the options it provides.
This coming weekend I will be visiting the Vancouver, BC area and look forward to hopefully taking some really lovely pictures. Not sure I can not get a great shot when surrounded by the incredible wilderness north of the city, but we’ll see. 🙂 I’ll try and remember to post some pictures when I return.

Safe travels.
