Cranky Old Man…..

Cranky Old Man…..

When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an Australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value. Later, when the nurses were going through his meagre possessions, they found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Melbourne .. The old man’s sole bequest to posterity has since…

Door to door religious sales people

Door to door religious sales people

Why do people wander through neighborhoods trying to recruit for their religion? Just had two more a few minutes ago attempting to “save” me. Go away. Didn’t Jesus say that the most important was the Golden Rule? That’s how I try to live and I don’t need to donate money to some corporation (yes, churches are a business) to defend their workers (priests) from lawsuits. Read the bible, do your thing, but leave me alone. When people complain about LBGTQ…

2017 December Trip to Vietnam

I saw a great deal on flights to Vietnam in October of 2017 for around $500 RT so I knew I had to finally head to Asia and not always back to Europe…get a little out of my comfort zone. When I posted the good fare on social media I had a good friend ask if she could come along and of course I said yes. We flew to Los Angeles the day before and explored the Venice Beach /…

Assistance to veterans

Assistance to veterans

Hey veteran friends, if you fit the criteria you can get help with special clothing. I received this email from the VA yesterday (7/13/2017).   Dear VA Beneficiary,   Did you know that you may be eligible for an annual clothing allowance if you use a prosthetic or orthopedic appliance and/or medication for a service connected skin condition that causes permanent damage to your outer garments?   If you’re eligible, and you haven’t yet applied for this year, you need…

Reunion with old friends from Germany

Reunion with old friends from Germany

I was stationed in Darmstadt, Germany during a portion of my time in the military.  This past weekend was a long overdue reunion!  Another bonus to my visit was to see my cousins, sister-in-law, and a great friend from Arizona who is now living in Annapolis. My cousin’s friend gave us a behind the scenes tour of the Capital building.  He’s been working in the Capital for decades and has some great stories. Below are a few pictures from the…

My little Theo

My little Theo

Update: I’ll be tracking all information on it’s own page: CLICK HERE   On December 23rd around 4pm Theo had a seizure that lasted about a minute or more.  I got him to the vet for blood work right away.  For those who have asked questions, here are the answers. Update:  Blood work came back clean, no issues there. My thoughts:  I found a dead Black Widow spider by the dog door and think that Theo may have been playing…

Always tighten your handlebars

Always tighten your handlebars

Yesterday I went to a Art Festival in downtown Phoenix with my friend Amy.  We rode our bicycles from her home to the festival, met some of her friends who were painting at the festival, and wandered around the numerous booths full of unique and fun wares being sold by their makers. On the way back I went off a curb and lifted up on the front of the bike a bit so I would have a smoother landing off…
