2008: November Election Results

Like many other Americans we voted yesterday with our hearts and minds hoping that with this vote we would see our country elect someone who has the ability to unite us in a way that hasn’t been seen in many decades. Last night we witnessed thousands upon thousands of people gathering together around the country and around the world to witness the turning of a page in American history. This new chapter ushers in a leap forward in thinking and…

2008: September – October

It is finally fall in Tempe. The temperature dropped almost 20 degrees this weekend with a current temperature of about 70 degrees compared with Friday’s 95. This weekend’s weather has been perfect, albeit a tad windy. Today is also a sad day because we are bidding farewell to our cousin Jessica who is making the long trek to Virginia by car to be with her man Adam. He’s in medical school there and the two are to be wed the…

2008: August – September Begins

August has been a pretty crazy month as far as work goes for us and we did get a little travel in. At the start of the month Kisha was in Miami for a week for work so I flew out and we drove to Key West for the weekend. Definitely not what we were expecting. It was extremely hot and humid…yeah, I know…we do live in Phoenix, but it was insanely hot and humid. I don’t know how those…

2008: July fun in South and North Dakota

2008: July fun in South and North Dakota

July started with a trip to Rapid City, SD for Darin’s 20th High School Reunion from Saint Martin’s Academy. It was a high school run by the Benedictine Order, but has since shut down. The school was in operation for many, many years and was recently purchased by the Rapid City Catholic Diocese which will keep the school and all of the surrounding area in good shape. We arrived on July 2nd to a beautiful day with perfect weather. After…

2008: May – June

May and June have been fun months for us in Arizona. We’ve had two family birthdays (Naomi and Darin) and have had great time visiting with family and friends in Arizona and California. Rick and David are coming out at the end of June and we’re all going to the George Michael concert here in Phoenix as a gift for Kisha and Rick who went to his concert when they were teenagers in Chicago. It should be a fun and…

2008 is flying by… In March we had family visiting from North Dakota, Indiana and Washington state. We also had our 2 week GAPP student visiting from Germany. Her name is Stephanie and she is from near Nurnburg in Germany. She is a wonderful person and we had a great time…

2008: The Year Moves On…

The year continues to move forward as we work and play. I’m working part time for eTools Learning, but am still looking for a permanent position at a local company. It has been almost a decade since I had to go through the interview process so going through this again has been a challenge. Since the last update we’ve been to Las Vegas and Los Angeles to have fun, relax and visit friends. We stayed at the Palazzo Suites at…

2007: November – Thanksgiving in Indianapolis, winter in Spokane

This Thanksgiving holiday weekend we flew up to Indianapolis to spend time with the family. Everyone in the Klein family made an appearance this year so it was very special. The Seattle Kleins and the Phoenix Kleins ( + Julia) and all of the Indiana Kleins had a great time together reminiscing, eating and playing games. The weather was typical November Indiana, but wasn’t too bad for us thin-blooded Phoenicians. We fixed computers and got a new phone for Dad…

2007: November – Changes Happening

November started with a great trip to Las Vegas with our exchange student Julia from Germany and her friend Asa (Osa) who is also an exchange student visiting from Norway. We stayed at a great place called the Meridian Suites about a block off the strip right south of Caesar’s Palace on E. Flamingo (250 to be exact). Very luxurious accommodations at an affordable (for Vegas) price. Prior to leaving for Las Vegas on the 2nd of November we received…

2007: August – October

Well, here’s a long over due update. In August our exchange student arrived for the school year. It’s Julia! She was our 2 week GAP student a couple years ago, but loved AZ so much she worked hard to find a way back to spend more time in the US. We are lucky enough to be her parents for this school year. Julia’s first weekend in the states began with a 6 hour drive to Los Angeles to spend time…
