Today’s ride began in Phoenix and ended in Moab, UT. I stopped in Flagstaff, AZ to have breakfast with Missy and John who used to be a part of Phoenix Area Rottweiler Rescue and are awesome people! This past weekend I was able to attend my nephew’s wedding in Culver, IN. Culver is where he went to high school and I now know that there are nice areas in Indiana. The lake near Culver was really beautiful and the high school campus is quite historic. It was founded before 1900. This is the kind of thing that gets people excited about space! We need more scientists, engineers, etc. to fuel exploration and new ideas, but our educational system seems to be only focused on tests. I certainly don’t have the answers, but watching this made me feel like a little kid and that thought of being an Astronaut that we all had at one point.

This May was the second annual Lake Powell trip and it did not disappoint. The detour around 89 to Page didn’t extend the drive too much, the weather was perfect, the people were as great as always and the lake as beautiful as ever. Every year the El Paso, Tucson and Phoenix HHH groups put on an event in Rocky Point (Puerty Penasco), Mexico and I’ve been down for the last four years. This year kept with the ongoing tradition of fun, sun and a little exercise. Received these shoes this week to try out. Might be a little too minimal for me, but they have been great for walking around the house. 🙂 —Update 4/7/2013 After a few runs I am really liking these shoes. Very light, good support and the fit like a glove.
This past weekend I went on a ride with a few friends out to Roosevelt Lake. We rode out of Phoenix to the northeast past Fountain Hills, then south to Tonto Basin / Punkin Patch for a break and some lunch. Once we left there we continued south to Roosevelt Dam for a break and to talk with other riders out enjoying the day. After that we went through the Globe area and rode west back to Phoenix.
