This is what the right considers a leader?

This is what the right considers a leader?

Those on the right sometimes (all of the time) complain that the US has lost it’s credibility in the world. I completely disagree. If you traveled overseas during the GW years it was easier to say you were Canadian because if a person knew you were American they always asked how GW became president. With President Obama in the White House I haven’t had to worry about it because the majority of people I meet traveling think he’s a decent person….

The times in which we live.

The times in which we live.

Ever read the book, “In the Garden of Beasts”? Well, if you haven’t…you should.  I can’t help when listening to what a certain candidate says, think about the parallels of what a certain person coming into power during in Germany after WW1 said. This can be said about almost any horrible person in human history, but this is our time…oh, and those movies and TV shows that have the premise of, “if you could travel back in time…what would you…

Riding around South Mountain

Riding around South Mountain

This winter has been pretty perfect.  Great snow up north (Sunrise / Snowbowl) and superb weather here in Phoenix for some hiking and mountain biking. Here’s a little video from some fun last week: https://youtu.be/qsoAZPQ9TD8

Finally a good ski day at Snowbowl

Finally a good ski day at Snowbowl

If you know me, you know that Snowbowl Ski area outside of Flagstaff, AZ is not on my list of favorite ski areas.  It’s small, it has slow lifts, very few trails, super crowded, etc.  I compare it to going to disneyland…wait 45 minutes for a 5 minute ride.  Plus, the lift tickets are around $70.  No thanks. The area had received almost 12″ of snow in the previous 24 hours so we knew the conditions would be decent.  The…

Another excellent day at Sunrise

Another excellent day at Sunrise

Took a day off of work today and went to Sunrise Ski Resort in Northeastern Arizona.  It is my favorite place to ski in Arizona…I’ve given the other resort numerous tries, but it just doesn’t stack up well against Sunrise. Everyone has an opinion (you all know the joke), and this is mine. This ski season has been such a departure from the past few years where we saw little to no snow for skiing. Today Sunrise had almost 80″…

Looking like a great ski season in Arizona!

Looking like a great ski season in Arizona!

The past few years of skiing in Arizona have been pretty dismal.  We’d get a good few days here and there, but not enough for a person to go almost whenever they could.  This past weekend I went to Sunrise Ski Resort in northeastern Arizona with a few friends for some skiing fun. The snow was fantastic and the crowds were low due to us arriving Sunday and staying through Monday. We started on the Apache / Cyclone side on…

Apple has come through again

Apple has come through again

I’ve been an Apple computer user for years. After a few year break I came back to Apple with the MacBook Pro 17 in 2008 when they started using Intel processors, then AppleTV, then an iPad. Last year I added a 27″ iMac to the family and have never been happier.  I also run Windows10, Windows Server as well as Linux in my home so please don’t consider me an Apple Fanboy. I like an OS and hardware that always…

2015 – Wrap up

2015 – Wrap up

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!   2015 was a very good year for me and my 2 dogs. I celebrated the beginning of 2015 in Europe while traveling with a former Phoenix friend who was stationed in Germany.  We were in Berlin for Christmas, Amsterdam for a few days, Frankfurt area for a few days and then to Hamburg for New Years Eve.  I was also able to visit Ann-Katrin, who we hosted as an exchange student years ago…

In the Garden of Beasts

In the Garden of Beasts

I’ve been reading “In the Garden of Beasts” and there are so many similarities between one of the candidates running for presidential office and the portrayal of Hitler’s rise to power. Please do not fall for the shouting and ignorance of the one who stirs your hatred. Please think of a better America, one that you will be proud to leave to your children and their children, one that won’t be looked on by future historians as “the era of Trump”….

San Francisco – Work and Fun

San Francisco – Work and Fun

Last Monday I flew out to San Francisco for the Atlassian Summit 2015.  It’s a gathering of nerds who love and use Atlassian’s products.  If you work in software development you’ve likely heard of it…if not, you likely have not.  It is a fantastic family of products!  http://atlassian.com The conference featured keynotes and learning sessions as well as a really fun party at the Exploratorium along the Embarcadero area along the bay. On Friday we moved to an AirBnB for…
