2009: July

2009: July

Hashing on the Fourth of July was lots of fun, but when the temperature gets above 105 it will have an impact on one’s ability to truly enjoy the run. It turns into survival by mile three. 🙂 That’s where the beer stops come into play and we all sit, drink water, drink beer and attempt to spell “Hash” with our bodies. After the run we all met at one of the Hasher’s homes for a pool party and BBQ….

2009: June

June is almost over and what the heck have I been doing? I don’t even remember now…hmmm. The picture above is of my nephew Carson and Justin along with my father (Bob) who are assisting with the production of a traditional family wedding drink. YUM! I went on a few hikes so far this month and have been neglecting mountain biking a bit, but I resolved that issue last Sunday morning. I’ve had a few massages this month which has…

2009: May

Well, May started out well with a camping trip to Hilltop Campground near Lynx Lake south of Prescott, AZ. We went up Thursday after work to find an almost empty campground so we had our pick and chose a perfect spot. It is over 5,000 feet in elevation so even at this time of year it is cool/cold at night and I’m glad my sleeping bag is rated for cold temps. I went up with my running group for the…

2009: April

Not much change since last month so far. Work is going well, life is going as well as it can right now. I am very thankful for my family and friends. The running group (HHH) I joined is a fantastic group of people who make my weeks so much better with their humor and willingness to just be open to whatever comes their way. If it weren’t for them I have no clue where I would be now and getting…

2009: March

This has been a beautiful winter in AZ with plenty of outdoor activities to keep me busy and out of trouble. I’ve been hiking and biking a few times per week either around the city or east of Phoenix in the mountains. There are so many hiking and biking clubs available through meetup.com that if a person wanted to do something almost every day they could. In February my parents visited for over three weeks and that was wonderful having…

2009: New beginnings

2009: New beginnings

2009 will hopefully be a better year and bring joy and happiness again.   I am on my own now after my wife decided she wanted to be with other men.   The blog will be left as is since I thought we had a pretty good marriage and we had many good times together. Those years helped to make me into the person I am today.   From this point forward it will just be me, my family and…

2008: November Election Results

2008: November Election Results

Like many other Americans we voted yesterday with our hearts and minds hoping that with this vote we would see our country elect someone who has the ability to unite us in a way that hasn’t been seen in many decades. Last night we witnessed thousands upon thousands of people gathering together around the country and around the world to witness the turning of a page in American history. This new chapter ushers in a leap forward in thinking and…

2008: September – October

It is finally fall in Tempe. The temperature dropped almost 20 degrees this weekend with a current temperature of about 70 degrees compared with Friday’s 95. This weekend’s weather has been perfect, albeit a tad windy. Today is also a sad day because we are bidding farewell to our cousin Jessica who is making the long trek to Virginia by car to be with her man Adam. He’s in medical school there and the two are to be wed the…

2008: August – September Begins

August has been a pretty crazy month as far as work goes for us and we did get a little travel in. At the start of the month Kisha was in Miami for a week for work so I flew out and we drove to Key West for the weekend. Definitely not what we were expecting. It was extremely hot and humid…yeah, I know…we do live in Phoenix, but it was insanely hot and humid. I don’t know how those…

2008: July fun in South and North Dakota

2008: July fun in South and North Dakota

July started with a trip to Rapid City, SD for Darin’s 20th High School Reunion from Saint Martin’s Academy. It was a high school run by the Benedictine Order, but has since shut down. The school was in operation for many, many years and was recently purchased by the Rapid City Catholic Diocese which will keep the school and all of the surrounding area in good shape. We arrived on July 2nd to a beautiful day with perfect weather. After…
