Trump’s Bullshit Continues – Canadian Viewpoint

Trump’s Bullshit Continues – Canadian Viewpoint

Timeline to explain why we’re here, and why we’re (Canadians) angry. Nov 30th, 2018 – The United States, Canada and Mexico finalize a trade agreement. Trump personally negotiates the terms and signs the document, celebrating it as ‘the greatest trade agreement in history”. (This is important.) Nov 29th, 2024 – In a face to face meeting, Trump threatens the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, that he will be imposing 25% tariffs and that if Canada wants to avoid that, it…

Old House Problems: No Floorplan?

Old House Problems: No Floorplan?

I’ve been playing around with some apps to map my home and have been using Scaniverse lately. So far it’s been pretty useful in mapping. It’s been useful to see the layout in 3D to visualize how the floors overlap and how my upper bedroom (very messy when testing) sits over the porch.

Old House Problems: Old Boiler

Old House Problems: Old Boiler

Not really a problem, just a part of the home’s infrastructure that is interesting to me. I have an old Crane boiler from approximately 1945 that is still working well. I had Banner Heating (one of two companies that still support these old boilers in the area) come up to walk me through the use/functionality. I also asked them if I should replace it and their response was that I’m only heating water and that as long as this unit…

Old House Problems: Renovating Weird Renovations

Old House Problems: Renovating Weird Renovations

This home had one bathroom and it was small and downstairs so the previous owners split the former upstairs “master” bedroom into this weird little bathroom and vestibule. It was very inefficient and not done well. The vestibule couldn’t be used for anything other than storage. I worked with a few contractors to remake the bathroom after I spent some time to demolish what had been there so we could start with an open room. With the roofline impeding the…

Old House Problems: Level Floors

Old House Problems: Level Floors

My old 1921 home, like many of its age, has floors that aren’t perfectly level. My upstairs bedroom, which sits above the front porch, settled slightly after the house was built, but none of the previous owners addressed the issue in the ensuing century. They could have either torn up the flooring and added sister joists to level it, or spent the money to lift and level that section of the house. I chose the former option, with the help…

Old House Problems: Finding History

Old House Problems: Finding History

My home was built in 1921 so whenever I do any remodeling the demolition process often allows for the discovery of items from that era. This time it was schoolwork done around that time by one of children of the home named Lora. I believe that I was able to find the person who did this homework after getting all of the historical data on my home with Spokane County historical records. Additional items found.

Cars from the past

Cars from the past

Over the years I’ve owned a few cars. Tended to drive Japanese models, but had one German (never again) and now two American made cars. I was discussing older vehicles with my cousin’s son who has refurbished a 1990s classic Nissan pickup. 1974 Honda Civic – my first car. Bought the “turd” for $500 and sold it for $500. Fun little car. 1979 Honda Accord 1989 Honda Accord LXi 1996 Honda Accord EX Nissan Altima (This car was junk) –…

An apology…

An apology…

I owe my Trump-supporting friends an apology. To be fair, President Trump wasn’t that bad, other than when he: But other than that. . . Feel free to copy and paste. FSD for a month

FSD for a month

I purchased “advanced autopilot” for my 2023 TeslaModel Y and have been happy with the purchase so far, but was disappointed when some of the functionality wasn’t there day 1. It’s now April 2024 and the latest update gave me autopark for both parallel and general parking spots. I’ve tested both of those and they work well. The other cool thing that came out a few days ago was free FSD for a month. I was really excited to try…
