Apple has come through again
I’ve been an Apple computer user for years. After a few year break I came back to Apple with the MacBook Pro 17 in 2008 when they started using Intel processors, then AppleTV, then an iPad. Last year I added a 27″ iMac to the family and have never been happier. I also run Windows10, Windows Server as well as Linux in my home so please don’t consider me an Apple Fanboy. I like an OS and hardware that always work…well, as “always” as our technology can offer.
I had switched from Android last year when the iPhone 6 came out and then upgraded to the 6s a few months ago and could not be happier. Battery life is as good or better than my Galaxy S6 and I don’t have the random crashes and reboots I had been experiencing.
One thing that had never happened to me before was having a screen crack due to a fall. I always use a good quality case and treat my products with care. Well, that luck ended this morning when my phone dropped a mere 1-2 feet and landed screen first.
I called T-Mobile concerning the screen and was forwarded to Assurant where I was told that I would need to send the phone in and then wait for another phone to be shipped back. The phone could be a new phone, but not necessarily. They wanted almost $200 for this “service”. For what I’ve paid as a T-mobile customer over the past 15 years and having never used any insurance before I was hoping for a little more compassion from T-Mobile. I even went into a store and asked if they could just swap it out, then they could send it in, but they said it “doesn’t work that way”. Yes, I dropped it, but I also pay for insurance and it should not be such a pain in the ass if something happens. That’s why I pay them insurance. T-Mobile should just swap it out and provide a phone replacement…at least the first time. 🙂 Oh well… I’m just being a baby.
So… I went to the nearby Apple store and they told me they were out of the 6s screens so I would have to drive to northwest Scottsdale to get it done. I had already spent 3 hours because they had then told me they had the screens in stock, then told me they didn’t. The person helping me at the store then went to talk to a manager and they decided to just swap out the phone for a new one. That’s why I buy Apple products. They KNOW I will come back and buy another one of their products…and I will! I’ve never had as good of service as I have had from Apple over the years and they’ve consistently shown that they are grateful for us long term Apple product users.
T-Mobile is still my favorite carrier, but I’m not too happy with them since they’ve gone to Assurant as an “insurance” company. Will I switch carriers? I might, but I think they all use similar plans and their store employees have no authority to do anything, but follow the rules even if it means losing a customer.
Happy to have a non-cracked screen and I hope it’s another 15 years before I crack the screen again. Knock on wood…
