Solar Updates
About a year ago I had solar and battery backup installed for my home and a week ago had more panels installed to increase my production to a level that I feel is appropriate for my energy use.
Initially, I had 12 Panasonic 360V panels installed on my home’s roof since I also wanted a 10KW battery backup to be in place due to our occasional power outages due to the windstorms/blizzard conditions that occur throughout the year. Due to the makeup of our land here (basalt), our power lines are above ground and we have many mature trees throughout the city that sometimes fall during these storms.
I’ve been very happy with how the system currently functions, but with the original 12 panels, I wasn’t covering all of my use. With an EV, hot tub, and other energy-consuming appliances having 24 panels will make a difference in what I can produce and also send to the grid.
