2009: August

2009: August

August went by very quickly with visits from family, travel to visit friends and camping at the end of the month with friends and new friends.

At the beginning of the month I flew to the San Francisco area to visit Elena and Tom who just got a new place so I thought I’d help them break in the new place. Fortunately for me they were already unpacked, organized and ready for company. While there Elena and I explored the city, walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, went to the Japanese Tea Garden and then met Tom for dinner in the city. The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing, talking, eating, swimming and meeting new people.

At the end of the month I went camping with Karen and a big group of her friends. It was a beautiful weekend spent with some really great people. I bought a solar shower and enclosure which provided very cold water because I wanted to shower in the morning instead of waiting all day for a warm shower.  It worked and I took two showers which used up the five liters of water in the bag. I need to try and only use 5 liters of water for two showers at home too!

The one adventure for me was a tire blowout on a dirt road, no cell coverage, 10pm and I hadn’t changed a tire in years. It went very smoothly and I was back on the road in 10-15 minutes. The next day was spent in Payson finding a new tire and then getting back to the campsite to put the tire back on the car and back to relaxing.

I’m sure that there was more to the month, but that’s all I have for now.

Onto September…
