2008: September – October
It is finally fall in Tempe. The temperature dropped almost 20 degrees this weekend with a current temperature of about 70 degrees compared with Friday’s 95. This weekend’s weather has been perfect, albeit a tad windy.
Today is also a sad day because we are bidding farewell to our cousin Jessica who is making the long trek to Virginia by car to be with her man Adam. He’s in medical school there and the two are to be wed the summer of 2009. We’re having a picnic at a nearby park so the kids can play and we can enjoy the day’s bounty.
This weekend started off with happy hour at Juan Jaime’s in Chandler, then moved to Cyclo for dinner with our good friends.
My friend Jim and I went to see Religulous last evening and the theater was packed which surprised us both. We didn’t think that on a Saturday night it would be the movie to see. The movie was really interesting and right in line with my thinking so I enjoyed listening to Bill Maher say things that I have either said, thought or would think given more time. I truly agree and think that religions cause more problems than they solve. If everyone just treated each other the way they would like to be treated this world would be a much better place. If a person believes in a higher being or beings they don’t need a “leader” to tell them what to do and then take their money. There are plenty of organizations we can give money to so we can help the less fortunate in this world and religions tend to take care of themselves first anyway. Bleh, sorry…
In the weeks ahead we’ll have a few more changes around here. Kisha had applied for and offered a position where I work (McKesson) and has accepted it. We’re very excited because the benefits are great, the people are great and opportunity for career growth is excellent for us both. Now we can carpool to the same place and have our vacation times in synch. I am very excited to be at the same company. I couldn’t have said that when I was at Motorola because I didn’t feel the company was stable enough to rely on for a long term career and I was right.
We’re planning something for Thanksgiving, but haven’t decided what as well as Christmas. More on that to come as soon as we know what we are doing.
We wish you all a happy and healthy October!
