2007: November – Thanksgiving in Indianapolis, winter in Spokane

This Thanksgiving holiday weekend we flew up to Indianapolis to spend time with the family. Everyone in the Klein family made an appearance this year so it was very special. The Seattle Kleins and the Phoenix Kleins ( + Julia) and all of the Indiana Kleins had a great time together reminiscing, eating and playing games. The weather was typical November Indiana, but wasn’t too bad for us thin-blooded Phoenicians. We fixed computers and got a new phone for Dad since his last Motorola iDen phone crapped out after all these years.

The ladies had a nice day out at the art museum of Indianapolis and ate at “Puck’s” (one of Wolfgang’s) there as well as visiting the Lilly home (founders of Lilly Pharmaceuticals) while us guys hung out and relaxed.

We also visited Kisha’s sister who lives near Indianapolis and had a great breakfast at “Bob Evan’s” restaurant which we can only get when we’re back in the Indianapolis area. It was great to see Boneca and the kids even though it only for a short period time.

We flew back to Phoenix the evening of the 26th and left for Spokane the morning of the 27th, which is a quick turnaround even for us seasoned travelers. We gladly snatched a few “z’s” on the plane ride up to Spokane where we were met with a winter wonderland. We stayed with our cousin Brian and Nami and their new little guy named Toby. We visited Terry and Mary’s new residence there and had some fantastic burritos. Brian and Mizu (Nami’s sister) plus kids also hosted an even dinner of fantastic Thai cuisine from a local restaurant. Kisha and Julia flew back a few days before me and I hung out with the cousins as well as setting up Nami’s newest venture called “Bento Baby”, which is Japanese inspired clothing for babies and parents. Check it out at www.bentobaby.com and buy some great clothes for the little ones.

Brian and I also made a trip to “Taco Johns” which I haven’t had in many, many years. It certainly did not taste as good as it did when I was a teenager working at “Camp Rapid” which was across the street from Taco Johns back in Rapid City, SD. We also saw the movie “Beowulf” in digital 3D which was pretty neat, but didn’t help the movie too much.

I’m now on the flight back to Phoenix where I will start my job search full-time after this non-hiatus I’ve had the past couple of weeks.
