2007: June & July – New Experiences and new additions

Kisha’s last semester as a teacher couldn’t end fast enough for me (Darin). I know that Kisha loved teaching German and was the best at it, but the way that teachers are treated makes me wonder why anyone would do it.

The one thing that all public school teachers should have is tax free living from both state and federal. This would allow them to have a better life and less stress. How much would that take out of our governments pockets? Not much for all the good it would do in attracting more teachers.

In June Kisha was looking for a job and finally got the one she really wanted at a company called Auralog which makes “Tell Me More” language software. It is fantastic software and is used by schools, corporations, governments, etc. and is definitely worth a look if you need to learn a language. I have no idea what the cost is or anything, but I’ve used it a bit and I can tell you honestly that I’ve never seen anything as good.

Kisha started at the end of June with Auralog and immediately went to their corporate offices near Paris, France for training until the end of July. She took quite a few pictures of her time there and her weekend visiting Ute and Martin in Germany. The pictures are located in our Picasa web album.

At the end of July my brother Jerrod and his son Carson visited from Indiana and we had a great time. We went to Kartchner Caverns in southern Arizona and that was fantastic! We will be going back in mid-October or later when the Big Room is open and that is more than double the size of the portion we visited. We also went to Sedona and went on a Jeep tour which was very fun and saw some beautiful rock formations and had a super thunderstorm as we were driving in the mountains. We visited the Phoenix Zoo and saw some of the desert inhabitants which was interesting and pretty cool. We also went to Jane’s house for dinner with the other Arizona relatives and had some delicious food. Another place we visited was Speedway go-kart raceway and that was a really fun time.

It was so wonderful to spend some time with my brother again since we don’t often get to hang out together very much.

The “New Addition” is my new nephew Brady that my sister Kara just had on Tuesday the 24th of July. He was a big baby and Jeremy said that Kara was awesome in the delivery room and didn’t use any drugs at all. I know that I would! There will be pictures posted soon of this handsome little guy.

Well, it’s almost August and our exchange student Julia will be arriving on the 2nd and then we’ll be getting her setup for school and all of the activities that go along with that. It’ll be interesting having another exchange student in the house and we’re hoping that it goes as well as our first student Andy. Good practice at parenting. 🙂

Hope you all have a great July and August!
