2007: February
Happy belated Valentine’s Day to everyone out there.
Kisha and I also celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary on the 9th of February. We went out to dinner at Roy’s which is a seafood place. It was pretty good, but for the price we would have picked another of our favorite places. The service was excellent and everyone is very friendly so it definitely is a nice place to eat.
The funniest thing happened tonight while Mooch, Isabella and I were watching a show on HD Discovery about the top 6 animals in Africa. Mooch loves watching animals on television, but Isabella has never really even looked at the television. Well, tonight she saw a Hyena and jumped forward to get a better look. After that she watched the whole program and was really more interested in watching the humans on the set unless there was a dog or some other animal she recognized. She didn’t stop staring at the television for the whole show and most of the next about crocodiles around the globe. It was a really neat experience to watch her watching/noticing TV for the first time as something that projected images she recognized as other living beings. She’s such a little sweetheart.
Kisha has been searching for another job since she is done teaching high school. She has had quite a few interviews and had offers, but the salaries have been far to low for her skills. We don’t mind waiting until the right job comes along and she can finally find something she truly enjoys.
2007 has also been an interesting year so far with Motorola going through yet another round of global layoffs. 3,500 this time around. Well, if it happens we plan on selling it all and heading back to Europe. We’ll keep you posted on this progress.
This weekend we are going skiing/snowboarding with our friends to Sunrise Ski area in the White Mountains of Arizona near the New Mexico border. They have quite a bit of new snow on top of a good base so we are expecting to have a great time in great conditions. I’ll be sure to post pictures.
In March we’re heading to Hawaii for Jim and Crystal’s wedding. We’ve never been to Hawaii and are looking forward to a great time on the Islands.
Beyond that nothing is planned except another trip back to Europe with my parents later this summer/fall. My dad hasn’t been back since he was in the Army (60s) and my mother has never been back to the “Old Country”. We’re really looking forward to showing them around and for my dad to see some of his old haunts in Wurzburg. (I know I didn’t put umlauts in).
We’re expecting camping trips, swimming parties, parties, visitors (come on down!), and many other wonderful surprises (kids? nah) this year so keep checking back for our periodic updates.
Take care,
Darin, Kisha, Isabella and Mooch
