Dogs!

Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to have fostered and adopted some wonderful dogs. They have enriched my life and certainly have saved it.

When Kisha (ex-wife) and I moved to Manhattan, KS (Rotten Apple) and I was stationed at Ft. Riley (horrible place) we had neighbors in our duplex who had a Rottweiler (Sachi) and a Dalmation (Bob) and both of those sweet pups (and their humans) were wonderful neighbors. We fell in love with Sachi and a few months after meeting her Kisha and I talked about finding a Rottie to adopt.

Back in 1995 with our neighbor’s dogs.

That’s how Baxter came into our lives and he was a truly spectacular good boy. He was about 9 months old when we adopted him. He was well socialized, smart, sweet, and easy to train.

When we moved to Arizona a friend of a friend needed help with her Rottweiler so we drove to norther California one weekend with Baxter to meet and pickup Ruthie. She lived with us for a couple/few years until her human Mom was able to bring her home. That was a very tough day, but I’m glad we did what we could to help.

We then adopted Isabella who was a deaf Rottweiler and a good girl. She lived with us/me (after divorce) until 2011 when she passed away. She was also our foster for quite some time, but as soon as people learned that she was deaf they backed out.

Mooch came onto the scene when his mom had him and 8 other puppies. We fostered Mooch and Pidge for a few months and then Pidge was adopted, but by this point we had already adopted Mooch. He was the sweetest boy and looked like a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Rottweiler.

When Isabella passed away I fostered Callie until I ended up adopting her. Another sweet girl who truly loved her big brother Mooch. She moved up with me and Theo from AZ to WA back in 2018.

After Mooch passed away I fostered a few dogs who were wonderful, but didn’t really click with Callie and me. Then came into my life when he was abandoned by his humans. I’m so thankful that my friend called me to help when Theo needed to be rescued. This six month old little cutie immediately wiggled into my heart.

I’m now without any dog and my home is so very quiet. I’ve not been alone without a dog since 1995 so it’s a real adjustment and I don’t like it. Will take some time to recover from this latest loss and then begin to foster again.

I’ve loaded some videos here.

Here are the dogs who have been adopted, but we had fostered many more.
